She smiled at herself in the mirror with a twisted kind of amusement, almost laughing at her dilemma.
Here she was, an assassin, staring at her red rimmed eyes and tear streaked cheeks in a public bathroom.

The fire dances with the shadows
with a solemn silent beauty
And though one is warm and other cold
they seem made for one another

Many people would commit themselves to the lot of this, but ultimately, that's what makes them human. We're fundamentally flawed, emotionally, intellectually, socially, and some are worse than others. They can be considered the most primitive of humans, really. Driven by self-desire independent of 'needless' compassion for others, is all.
